The Chicago skyline looking south at night. There's nothing quite like the twinkling of street lights to cast a haze over the city. No matter which direction one looks, except east, there are lights that travel as far as the eye can see. From humble beginnings along Lake Michigan in the 1840's, Chicago now has 2.9 million people in the city proper and 9.5 million in the Chicagoland area.
Buckingham Fountain is one of the most beautiful fountains in the United States. Newly married couples have their pictures taken in front of it all the time. Located near the south end of Grant Park, the fountain runs from about mid-April through mid-October. The turning on of the fountain indicates that Spring has finally arrived.
Looking north from peninsula that houses the Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium, the downtown area's skyline in the winter. Chicago is a beautiful city, but especially in the winter.
The Sears Tower stands majestic in the center of this photo looking east toward Lake Michigan. The circle arrange of highway intersections gave the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) its first name "Circle Campus." In the lower left hand corner is the octgonal roof of the dorms for UIC. Sprawled across the Congress/Eisenhower Expressway is the City of Chicago's main Post Office.
